“Marrisa Caldwell has grit and spunk. She showed it by winning livable wages for food service workers and paraprofessionals in the schools, and by making sure Barnes Elementary was not shut down. More than ever, the City Council needs strong voices on behalf of working families. Please support Marrisa Caldwell for Burlington City Council on Town Meeting Day.” -State Senator & Ward 3 City Councilor, Tim Ashe

From Marrisa:
Dear Neighbor,

I am asking for your vote on March 3 so that I can continue to bring responsive and effective leadership to the City Council.

As your school board representative, I built a record of achievement in standing up for our community's needs. When Barnes and Wheeler were threatened with closure, I worked with hundreds of Old North End neighbors to keep them open. Likewise, I joined with Ward 3 residents, other Burlington taxpayers and workers to establish a livable wage for all school employees.

I have worked hard to find cost savings, for example by advocating for sharing services with the City. And, when necessary, I have decided not to support projects that I believed were unsustainable, such as the recent $226 million school bond proposal.

I know what it takes to make change — or to defeat bad ideas. With your support, I will bring the voice and values of Ward 3 — values that put people first — to the City Council.

Please contact me with your thoughts and concerns. Together, we can ensure that Burlington is a livable city.
